When selecting a waterproof coating for a construction project, buyers may notice that some products are supplied in two separate components instead of as a ready-to-use material. This naturally raises a practical question: why does a waterproof coating need two components?

For KJ-11 applications, critical areas such as internal and external corners and pipe roots should receive additional reinforcement before the main coating is applied. The coating is then built up in multiple layers, with adjacent coats applied in perpendicular directions.

This approach helps contractors create a more continuous waterproofing layer across both flat surfaces and detailed areas.

Is a Two-Component Waterproof Coating More Complicated to Apply?

A two-component system does involve an additional mixing step compared with a ready-to-use coating. However, the process is straightforward when the specified ratio and application procedure are followed.
