On December 18th, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), a global power battery giant, announced the official commissioning of the world’s first large-scale new energy power battery PACK production line for humanoid intelligent robots at its Zhongzhou Base. It has achieved the same operational tempo as seasoned workers, and its daily work output has tripled. 2025 marks the inaugural year of mass production for humanoid robots. Industry leaders have completed thousand-unit deliveries, and the robots have entered factories for small-scale trials.

Humanoid robots are growing from “awkward and fledgling demonstrators” to “capable workers that perform concrete tasks”. They have evolved from pursuing simple movements and motions to creating economic value in specific scenarios — undertaking simple and repetitive work in high-end manufacturing sectors such as automotive electronics. It is projected that by 2035, the total demand for humanoid robots in three major segments of China’s industrial landscape — automotive manufacturing, electronic manufacturing and logistics & warehousing — will reach 484,000 units.
